It's a word now used by the FBI to describe this crime: masters of digital image manipulation can find a photo on social media, or some video, and manipulate it into a fake event: an innocent actor can be made to look like like a participant in illegal, explicit activity, including sex crimes. The innocent actor is then extorted for money to get the shameful, fake crime out of public view. A.I. is now making sextortion technically easier.
